Calgary’s annual Pride Parade marched through the city’s downtown core on Sunday, drawing a large turnout of participants and spectators, according to multiple reports from CBC, CTV News, and the Calgary Herald.
The event saw Ninth Avenue closed to traffic for the parade route, with crowds lining the streets to watch the procession. Organizers, however, struck a cautious tone, telling CBC that the community is “not out of the woods yet” despite the festive atmosphere.
The parade is the centerpiece of Calgary’s Pride celebrations, which have grown in scale in recent years. Sunday’s event took over the downtown area, with attendees describing the atmosphere as celebratory and worth the effort to attend, per the Calgary Herald.
